In 2005 (and 2006) Andy Cayton and myself were chosen to represent the United States at the annual Gordon Bennett Coupe - the oldest and most prestigious air race in the world.  Each country can send up to to three teams - the goal being to fly the furthest from the launch site.  We launched from Albuquerque, New Mexico and landed three days later on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan - some 1100 miles, a record for a US team that still stands.  Our launch is shown below.
